If you thought there is nothing more to know about the mountainous Arcadia and its landscape that exudes a timeless energy, reading this article would convince you that you are sorely mistaken.
There are still undiscovered gems to discover and many "secret treasures" that are staying hidden in this mythical destination of the Peloponnese, with the traditional architecture and stone guest houses.
One of them is the village "Elliniko" relatively unvisited by tourists and has its own history, beauty and attractions. But most importantly, it offers a more peaceful experience than the other, most known historic villages of Dimitsana, Stemintsa, Vytina and Karytaina.

It is amphitheatrically built, at an altitude of 720 meters on the slopes of the mountain, and has very few permanent residents (204 according to the 2011 census). However, it is a favorite tourist destination for those who would like to claim that they know Arcadia well.
Its breathless panoramic view and its privileged position, between the villages of popular Karytaina and the highly touristic Stemnitsa. This means that Elliniko can easily be the main location for travellers so that they can make a small tour around Arcadia.
At the same time, it is a village with long and rich history already from the medieval years.

It offers superb but few accommodation so you will need to book your room in prior, especially if you would like to visit in winter, spring or autumn. You could choose from a beautiful, traditional guest house, or a family mansion or a hotel with comfortable rooms and spa. Plus, the prices are in quite reasonable rate.
It is worth taking a walk in the square of Agia Triada, where you will see the bronze statue of Theodoros Kolokotronis dominating as well as the imposing Old Tuition, which is illuminated in the evenings. You can also visit the monastery of Agios Nikodimos, as well as the Ecclesiastical Museum of the village.

You will also find a handful of tasteful cafes and taverns, as well as the village's only bar, which serves excellent cocktails. Of course, you can also enjoy your drink or coffee in the Elafos hotel-spa bar.
There are only two but excellent tavernas, with traditional, hand-crafted menu such as the known Arcadian rooster noodles or braised veal with aubergines.
Also, there will be a stop at the small shops in the square, to stock up on some delicious, local treats as honey, handmade noodles, herbs and mizithra cheese.
