A new arrest has been reported in Mykonos, where a 34-year-old Greek man is facing serious charges for stealing high-value items from a tourist. According to the complaint, the accused took a Hermès bag and a Rolex watch, with a total value of €75,000, from a 29-year-old Ukrainian tourist.
The 34-year-old was transporting the Ukrainian tourist in his vehicle on the Mykonos – Ano Meras provincial road. During the journey, he allegedly demanded and received high-value personal items as collateral to ensure payment for the tourist’s transport to his accommodation in the Elia area.
The 29-year-old handed over to the driver:
- a women’s Hermès handbag, worth €15,000
- a luxury Rolex Day-Date watch, worth €60,000
The driver’s disappearance
At 6:20 in the morning, taking advantage of the moment the tourist got out of the vehicle, the accused allegedly sped up and disappeared, abandoning the 29-year-old on the spot and keeping the valuable items in his possession.
Mykonos police officers, using the available information, located the 34-year-old in the Agios Stefanos area. Searches conducted on both his vehicle and the accommodation where he was temporarily staying on the island were fruitless, as the stolen items were not found in either location.
Finally, the Hermès bag and the Rolex watch were found carefully hidden under rocks in an open area near the Holy Church of Agios Patapios.
